Sheep in the Big City Wiki

Farmer John, also legally known as Far Mer John, is a mostly self-centered, overbearing and pestering farmer who is notable for being Sheep's ex-owner. His main goal throughout the show is try and catch Sheep, like General Specific. However, unlike General Specific (who wants Sheep for a sheep-powered ray-gun), Farmer John wants Sheep back at the Farm for “emotional reasons” (as expressed in the pilot: “In the Baa-ginning”) ever since he left for the Big City.

Appearance[]

Farmer John has tan skin and wears a yellow shirt, blue overalls and brown shoes, along with a red cap. He has a bulbous nose and small seafoam eyes.

Relationship with Sheep[]

Prior to his negative encounter with General Specific, Farmer John seemed rather calm and emotionally content (albeit a bit ditzy). Farmer John expresses a bias for Sheep, as he considered the sheep a favorite to him. When Sheep fled the Farm after General Specific threatened to destroy it, Farmer John became hyper fixated on the having of Sheep back via perturbing means (stalking, guilt tripping, etc.). Occasionally, Farmer John will sometimes protect Sheep from danger and has been shown to summon godly strength when needed.

Trivia[]

  • In a skit “How did they get their names?” on "Belle of the Baaaah", it is revealed that Farmer John’s legal name is Far Mer John. “Far” because his parents wanted him to go far, “Mer” after his aunt Meredith, and “John” for redundant familial reasons.
    • This is retcon. According to "In The Baa-ginning", his legal name was Farmer John because he loved farming so much.
  • Farmer John consistently shows a fondness for luxury items and the concept of notoriety, getting easily sucked into fame in “A Star is Shorn” and frequently expressing contempt for his "small" role in the show as a whole.
  • Farmer John is one of a few characters who's design doesn't differ between "In The Baa-ginning" and the rest of the show.
