General Specific reading a script
“Private Public, try to find me something for these inexplicable memory lapses I've been having.”

This article has been declared non-canon as it doesn't take place in the "real" Sheep in the Big City universe.

To Sheep, Perchance to Dream is the thirteenth episode of Sheep in the Big City, and the final episode of the first season.

The episode was produced in 2000 and premiered on Cartoon Network on July 29, 2001.[1]

Summary[]

The episode focuses on several bizarre plots (such as General Specific turning into a sheep, as well as Sheep and Swanky getting married) that turn out to be dreams that the characters are having. This infuriates the narrator... though it turns out that the entire episode is all just a dream of his as well. But when he wakes up, however, he finds himself in the exact position he was in at the end of the dream, as it turns out to be real after all!

Plot[]

Chapter 1: A Lamb For All Seasons![]

Chapter 2: To Sheep, Perchance to Dream[]

Chapter 3: I don't know! Some Pun on the word 'Sheep' (The Narrator is starting to lose his mind)[]

This is where the narrator loses control over the story as he goes mad over a skit gone crazy and tries to finish the final chapter of the episode.

As everybody dances the Bobby Cola, Lady Richington finds out that she is having a total nightmare, only to find out that Swanky was already married, by the wedding ring on her paw.

We find out that sheep's dream is just of him eating the grass in a field.

The narrator is just about to lose his mind when Lady Richington starts bashing him on the head with her wig and he is forced to take it on the lam! He soon sees the Angry Scientist, who now calls himself the 'Scientist with Some Issues'. The scientist then explains that he noticed that the sheep-powered ray gun has two settings: One for sheep, but the other setting was for... Narrators!

That was when General Specific appears and orders his men to capture the narrator! And so the chase resumes with the narrator being chased by General Specific, his horde of soldiers and by the Scientist with Issues, only to be cornered by Lady Richington, who was coming right for him!

The Narrator was about to escape through the 4th wall, only to smash into it! As if things could not get any worse, suddenly, the narrator sees Sheep emerging from a manhole! He wants the narrator to hide in the manhole as his only means of escape. The narrator wasn't too sure if it was a trap, but what choice does he have? So he follows Sheep into the manhole, only to fall through a series of pipes and end up in the Secret Military base, completely surrounded by all of the cast from "Sheep in the Big City"!

And as it turns out, the true villain of the series, was none other than the stars of the show, Sheep, who actually has a speaking voice!

Sheep had planned this whole series as a trap for the narrator! By using the narrator to cover up the ruses and subterfuges going on behind the scenes, they were able to lure him into his trap and use him for Sheep's weapon: The Narrator-powered Ray Gun!

Even Private Public admits that he is french.

And so, as Sheep commands that the narrator be put into the ray gun, he also orders the dancing clomes to come out and celebrate his victory!

The narrator, hoping that this would be another nightmare, finds out from the flying pig that this is no dream at all, for it is real!

And so, the narrator has but one final line: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The Ranting Swede[]

And so, with the Narrator finally facing his own doom and destruct, Sheep ends the show himself!:

Sheep: "Ladies and gentlemen, what would you say to a little Ranting Swede to end the big show?"

Ranting Swede: "You know what makes me really mad and angry?! EVERYTHING!"

Sheep: "Hah hah hah hah! That's ranty!"

Epilogue[]

The narrator wakes up, figuring that this was all another dream, but as it turns out, he had only blacked out during the Ranting Swede and End Credit sequences. And in reality, he was finally fitted into Sheep's Narrator-Powered Ray Gun, ready to fire on Sheep's command as the villainous sheep laughs a victoriously evil laugh as the series comes to an end with a thumbs up!

Production Notes[]

  • Although this episode premiered on July 29, 2001, it was actually produced in 2000 according to the credits, as with every other season 1 episode. It was also the final episode produced in 2000.
    • This episode was finished on November 9, 2000, coincidentally only eight days before the premiere of the first episode.[2]

Trivia[]

  • This was almost the last episode of the series, as the series had not yet been renewed for a second season at the time the episode was produced.
